NEPTUNE
Neptune's
blue-green atmosphere is shown in great detail in this Voyager 2
spacecraft image (click to enlarge),
from a distance of about l6 million kilometers. The Earth-size Great
Dark Spot (GDS) is seen at the center and the bright, "cirrus-type"
clouds near the GDS are higher in altitude than the dark material
of unknown origin which defines its boundaries. Click

This
view of the crescents of Neptune and moon Triton was acquired by
Voyager 2 about 3 days after its closest approach to Neptune (north
is to the right) (click to enlarge).
